Adopt a Classroom www.adoptaclassroom.org Contact: Olive Taylor Ctaylor6@optonline.net 732 833 1095 Website has many tips for starting this project at schools and marketing material to encourage participation at both the school and parish level. Volunteer would have periodic contact with teachers to make sure their information on the website is current and monitor donations. On going project. Volunteer can work from home. The community is invited into the classroom in support of teachers and their students. By adopting a classroom, donors form partnerships with specific classrooms providing financial and moral support. The result is a meaningful contribution to education in which donors experience the impact of their efforts and celebrate in a classroom’s success. Teachers often spend their own money on much needed supplies. Donations of as little as $1 can be put to great use by teachers and students. Reach out to alums and encourage them to contact their classmates to grow this group. Database of alums is available. Start up of a new Alumni group at St. Aloysius School. Buddy Family Contact: Sue DeNooyer Sue.DeNooyer@MRMGillespie.com Families would be assigned one or more new school families. They would make contact with the new family, meet them at the last PTA meeting of the year and be on hand to answer any questions they might have relating to the school. Volunteer involvement is usually May-Sept with periodic other involvement throughout the year. A new program started this year. Links existing school families with new school families. Creativity Contact: Olive Taylor Ctaylor6@optonline.net 732 833 1095 This can be done from home and approx. 6-10 items would be required (in total for the year). Designing and making flyers, brochures, greeting cards etc for all the various programs being promoted and marketed. Gator Greetings Contact: Bernadette Portera This year round program requires interaction with teachers as students sign the greeting cards. Lists are obtained from the parish offices of newly baptized children and the program follows them through to school age. We proudly welcome all members of our catholic community at an early age. We send a newly baptized children a greeting card and follow up with yearly birthday cards. This program is done with the assistance of teachers and students at school. Volunteer would liaise with Mrs. Hoover to have current 8th grade students write a thank you. Co-ordination with church office would be needed to select weekend to read thank you’s at mass. Towards the end of year school year 8th grade students present their written thank you’s to the parishioners of St. Aloysius church for all their support of our school. Grants Writing Contact: Olive Taylor Ctaylor6@optonline.net 732 833 1095 There is a need for both grant writers and researchers. This would be an on going project and can be done outside of school. There are many, many grants out there that our school could avail of. Grandparents Day Contact: Olive Taylor Ctaylor6@optonline.net 732 833 1095 Pre-printed cards are sent out to grandparents – the first week of September. Most names have been gathered already. Envelopes would have to be labeled, stuffed and mailed out. This is a one time per year project. We like to acknowledge those people who are special in the lives of our students and family. Make A Difference Day Contact: Olive Taylor Ctaylor6@optonline.net 732 833 1095 This is a one time per year project and would involve co-ordination of chosen project between school and Diocese. Make a Difference Day is towards the end of October every year. Planning of this event would probably have to start somewhere towards the end of the summer. Volunteers would be required to be available on the Make A Difference day at a local area charity. The Diocese of Trenton schools come together to Make A Difference in our local community. Each year a local charity is chosen to be the recipient of any monies or items collected. A good writing talent and ability to liaise with the school to showcase upcoming events. We strive to keep our school and its events in the local newspapers. This lets our neighbors and community know what great things happen at St. Aloysius. Perhaps a coffee Morning or luncheon etc. Volunteers are one of the great things about a great school.
